Installing and updating Slurp

Install from the DMG

1. Download the current DMG from the Slurp website.
2. Open it and drag Slurp to Applications.
3. Launch the installed copy from Applications.

This matters particularly for the built-in Safari Companion, which expects Slurp to be installed in Applications.

Verify the download

The SHA-256 checksum for the current Slurp 1.0.18 (build 283) Apple silicon DMG is:

To verify the DMG in Terminal, run:

shasum -a 256 Slurp-1.0.18-mac-arm64.dmg

The result should begin with the checksum shown above.

Keep Slurp up to date

Open Slurp → Settings → General → Updates. Leave Keep Slurp up to date enabled for daily checks, or choose Check for Updates to check now. This covers the Slurp app, download support, live recordings, and site fixes together.

Verified app updates can download in the background and install when Slurp quits. You can also choose Slurp → Check for Updates… from the menu bar.

Smaller fixes between app releases

Download support, the live-stream engine, and site-compatibility rules can update independently from the main app. Slurp verifies these updates before using them. Recordings already in progress keep the engine they started with.

Details and recovery

Expand Details & Recovery to see component versions and available recovery actions. If a new engine causes a problem, use its previous or bundled version. Manual recovery pauses automatic updates for that component so your choice stays in place until you turn updates back on.

If macOS blocks or warns about a download

Do not work around an unexpected security warning. Confirm that the DMG came from get-slurp.app, download it again if necessary, and use the Contact form if the warning remains.
